Network Router Repeaters No More!

I usually have much time to blog over the weekend and sitting in front of the computer to the wee hours of the morning during these days is becoming customary.  However, the past weekend was just untimely for our network router repeaters to suddenly stopped working.  Hubby couldn’t fix it until later yesterday when it was time for me to prepare the things I needed for my class.  And by the time he’d done fixing, I was already tired to blog.  All I managed to do was to drop my EC and send important emails.  Arrgh!

Network Access Point

Network Access Point

The computer I’m working on gets network and internet connections through this wireless network access point or the so- called router repeater, which in turn repeats the speed of the nearby wireless router, hahaa, just the way I understand how it works.  Hubby decided to install this so that all the computers would enjoy the best speed no matter how far they were from the router.  But unfortunately, the repeater had caused my computer trouble twice already; the first unidentified problem (a month ago) prompted hubby to buy a new one as he thought it might had been damaged or something.  Installing it was quite complicated that he was compelled to call the assistance of the D-Link support.  He was told then that he could still use the old because it would normally give better performance with two repeaters.  All was fixed and done.  Not until last weekend that it stopped connecting again.  So annoying to have this kind of problem when I don’t even know what the cause must be.

When hubby was done fixing the network and internet connections in my computer, I saw the two repeaters on our coffee table and I thought it couldn’t be the best place for the repeaters to work better than when it’s far from my computer.  I asked him if he was serious about placing those ugly things on the coffee table.  When he replied yes, I thought he was out of his mind.  I don’t want those repeaters on our coffee table, of course.  But after dinner, I saw them on the sofa and only then I knew he was no longer using the repeaters.  Now, we have the usual one wireless router back again and it’s working just fine without the unnecessary repeaters.

Itong asawa ko kasi, gumagana naman pala kahit walang repeaters. Gusto lang talaga ng mabilis pa sa kidlat ang speed. :-)

This is something with technology, we would never know the why’s and how’s sometimes. Good to know your problem fixed itself.

Btw, your URL must be wrong. I get the blank page when I click it.

Pasintabi lang po, napadaan lang. can i say something technical, kahit gano po kadaming repeaters ang ilagay eh same lang po ang connection speed if theyre plugin on the same source/router. it would only matter kung maxadong malayo ang wireless router signal, which is basically the main idea of a repeater.

Repeater: (noun) From the word itself, it repeats weak signal.

    thanks po ate.,

Malayo nga ang router namin sa ibang computers kaya ginamitan ng repeaters. According to D-link support mas maganda ang performance ng repeater kung dalawa in one router. It doesn’t necessarily repeat weak signal but it repeats the signal you have from the router para mapalapit dun sa ibang comp. Didn’t I explain the word repeater in my post?

Do not use repeaters unless otherwise needed, they are only used to retransmit signals they cannot reformat, resize, or manipulate the data packet, if the data are invalid frames they too will send those invalid frames… :)
