It’s International Women’s Day and women around the world are getting distinct attention by commemorating historical events that led to the celebration of Women’s Day. Though the celebration was associated with political awareness, it’s now becoming an occasion to express the significance of women in the society in general – mothers, teachers, girlfriends, aunts and more. In some countries, the custom of giving gifts and flowers to women on this day is still prevalent.
The only inspiring quote on women that comes to my mind is, “Behind every man’s success is a woman”, and for whatever reason a woman contributes the success of a man is certainly substantial. But the true essence of a woman is of her dignity and pride being a wife and a mother, her role in the family is greater than a man’s conquest.
Incidentally, today is also the birthday of my bestfriend, Nona. Our friendship has blossomed into a sister-like relationship when we were in the third grade. We’ve been used to long distance contacts since we graduated high school, that everytime we meet, tears flows and long talks would lead us to memory lane. The picture below was taken last year after not having seen each other for almost eight years.
Awards from lovely women bloggers…
Am taking this opportunity, too, to thank these lovely women for these awards. Mary, Ricka and Eds, thank you so much for these!
Fren,
Happy Woman’s (or Women’s) Day. Thanks for being such a nice friend. 🙂
Hehe, thanks for being a nice friend, too. I feel like a real woman, hehe..
And congrats on winning some new awards, keep them intact, they are really very encouraging
Happy women day marlene!Hope friendship could blossom into a sister-like relationship too! 🙂 Happy weekend!
Am hoping, too, Sweetiepie. It’s good to meet a nice blogger like you in the blogosphere.
oh, this is a sweet entry. you and Nona must be great buddies- i totally understand that. i have some great old friends too, and whenever we get together, it feels like nothing else and no one else exist anymore!!!! (yes, not even my husband!) hahahahahah it’s great to have long chats and talks and catch up new news and gossips.
i hope it’s not too late to wish you happy woman’s day 🙂 and yes, i totally agree- behind every man’s success, there is a woman-totally and absolutely agree. a woman is not only a woman, she is also a wife and a mother, and she might just sit at home, but she is surely busier and occupied with her chores at home which makes her husband happy and comfortable whenever he comes back from a long tiring day at work!
Oww, that’s true. Me and Nona spent most of the time together when met last year. But hubby kind of understand it :-).
For me, everyday is a woman’s day, so it’s never too late. It seems that we have the same view about womanhood. Thanks…
Good to see you are still in touch with your old pals, well i miss all my college and school friends.
Where have you been? You didn’t greet us last Saturday, hahaa..
Happy women day to all you rocking women bloggers.
Good your hubby doesn’t mind it. some husbands can be jealous too! LOL my hubby is cool too with my friends, sometimes, we even hang out together.
Happy woman’s day, better late than never haha!
Yung award ko rin na ganyan di ko pa naipopost, baka magtampo na yung nagbigay… 😀
Yikes, Amor, ako man di naka-greet sa iyo. Masyado yata akong na-excite sa pics ng “meeting” ninyo, heheee..
fren,
para kong narinig ulit si sushmita sen. pero yung last comment mo sa blog ko you mentioned dayanara torres ha. Ms. Universe period kasi eh. hahahaha!
naku fren andaming pasaway sa blog ko ngayon. sometimes it’s killing me softly.
Oo nga ano, I still remember the final question nung nanalo si sushmita sen sa atin, “what is the essence of a woman?”. Tapos si Dayanara Torres yung reigning MU.
Hindi ko akalaing may mga ganun pala sa blogosphere, fren. Pero maybe, mga kababayan lang din natin yun.
