The Art Of Notre Dame

25 February 2008 By: Marlene19 Comments

Notre Dame-Paris

When I was young, I heard about the story of The Hunchback of Notre Dame. I even saw the film but could not recall what it was all about. What I remember until now is the misshapen bellringer that would scare me and made me not to watch the film again. He seemed to be mysterious and aloof to people. Anyway, I’ve learned later that it was a novel by Victor Hugo made into different film adaptations and even musical.

Seeing this Notre Dame Cathedral is not creepy at all. In fact, it’s magnificent architecture is admirable in all aspects. It’s sculptures and stained glass show the heavy influence of naturalism. This Gothic Cathedral is still used as a Roman Catholic cathedral and is the seat of the Archbishop of Paris.  I’d love to visit the cathedral again after reading the novel so to create a feeling of being there in the place and in the story.

It is a magnificent architecture. Looks like a nice lovely place to visit. I just love visiting all these old buildings with a history of its own, unfortunately they’re all so far away and costs just too much to actually travel all the way there … sigghhh …

I’m sure you also have magnificent architecture in your place, Nick. And don’t worry, when you have the resources to travel, those historical buildings are still there 🙂
