But if you’re not necessarily going to Tenerife for the nightlife, there are plenty of other great things to see and do on this spectacular island. Here are just a few of them:
• Water world: Tenerife is home to Siam Park, one of the largest water parks in Europe, which is packed with all manners of different slides, flumes, plunges and pools for kids and big kids alike. You’ll also find some cracking watersports all around the coast, particularly in the main resorts, along with a number of scuba diving centres to help you explore the deep blue sea.
• Amazing animals: Head north to Puerto de la Cruz and pay a visit to Loro Parque to discover amazing animals like primates, sea lions, tigers, alligators, flamingos, pelicans and even sharks. It’s a great day out for all ages and a certain boredom-buster for the little ones.
• Hiking & biking: For the ultimate outdoor adventure, be sure to spend some time in central Tenerife at the spectacular Teide National Park. Home to Spain’s tallest peak, Mt Teide, this is the place to be for incredible natural scenery, bizarre volcanic landscapes and all sorts of outdoor adventures.
• City slickers: Santa Cruz is the capital city of Tenerife and the joint capital of the Canary Islands, and it’s a great spot for a day’s shopping. Throw in a few cafe pit-stops, a refreshing beer and a plate of delicious paella or tapas, and you’ve got the recipe for a great day out in the city.
