I was feeling hopeless when I couldn’t find the name of a statue I photographed in Copenhagen. I couldn’t even find the name of the park we walked through. If it was indeed a park. I looked at the photos again and I discovered that hubby and I have taken pics of different statues, which we didn’t even bother to look for any information board by the side or anything that would tell something about each one of them. As you may have known, statues or sculptures are generally constructed with significant histories behind. And that’s what we missed with these statues. Our concern, though, was to see The Little Mermaid (Den lille havfrue) and that’s obviously the one statue we have known with a name. But before we reached the popular mermaid, we saw these on the way and through the park or whatever it was…
UPDATE: Hubby has found the name of this statue and it is called the Gefion Fountain. His way of searching is different from mine. He uses the map! Many thanks also to SEO for sharing his research and for prompting me with information in his comment below. I don’t need to write more about this statue.
Well, then, if you know the names of these statues, please feel free to inform me. Oh, there’s no statue in the last one but you find me focusing on taking pictures of something. That might as well be a statue of myself – someday. If you’re a traveler who loves statues and sculptures, you will not be disappointed of what you will see in Denmark.

Great photos. What camera do you use?

Hi, Tipsum, thanks. The first four photos I took with my good old Canon G7 while the last pic, hubby took with Nikon D90.

Wow, can’t help you here at all! I wonder how people remember all the names
Marlene says
It’s really hard to remember names, especially of old age.

Such nice pictures! I don’t know any of these statues. I always wanted to travel to someplace with lots of nice looking statues. Do you happen to know any other places?
Marlene says
Hi, Mary, I really appreciate you dropping by here. Oh, there are so many places with statues. Here in Europe, particularly, you’ll find ancient statues but I’m sure you also have some in your place.

The first statue with the bulls is
Denmark-Copenhagen-Frederiksstaden-Statue-Gefion Springvandet
The myth goes that Gefion was told by the King of Sweden that she could have all the land she could plow in a night. She turned her sons into bulls and plowed all the land that is now the island of Sealand where Copenhagen is. Oddly enough, if you look at a map of southern Sweden there is a lake roughly the size and shape of Sealand.
I found many pictures of the others but no name. Hope this helps.
Marlene says
Thank you so much for sharing this. So kind of you. I updated the post above. It’s an interesting myth.
SEO says
It is an interesting myth. I took about 30 45 minutes looking through google images and that is the only statue I could find any info on. The one with the Angel on top of the column was only referred to as the angle and I had no luck with the other one. Glad I could help. It was fun.

the Church is St Alban’s beside the Norse goddess, Gefjun and her statue. You are likely taking a picture this fountain, Copenhagen’s largest and located on the waterfront.

Thank you for taking time to share the name of the church. So kind of you. Now I know its name.
