Great Ball of SKF

23 November 2010 By: Marlene12 Comments

I had my chance to take this great steel ball outside SKF’s headquarters a week ago. The school where I teach every Wednesday is close to SKF and incidentally, hubby drives some of the heads of the company more often. When he picked up one head person that day, he asked me to come along so I wouldn’t need to take the bus home. But he said it would take some time because he’d drive the other head person to the airport and he told me to get inside the building to wait for him. On my way to the building, I saw this huge ball which I thought it was made of glass. It was cold that day but I managed to take pictures of it with my phone camera. I could feel my hand froze afterwards because I took off my gloves to have a good grip of my phone. I love the astonishing blue color from the lights that reflected onto ball.

SKF Gothenburg Sweden

SKF Headquarter in Goteborg, Sweden

SKF (Svenska Kullagerfabriken AB) manufactures ball bearings, seals, lubrication and lubrication systems, mechatronics products and more. Founded in 1907, it has become the largest bearing manufacturer in the world. Those who are in electrical business, aircraft and other transport services must be familiar with SKF. I, on the other hand, was not aware of anything SKF before, though hubby said he saw SKF signs in a construction premises in my hometown.

You can actually see me in the ball if you look closely, lol!. And it looks like Gothenburg is in the ball, too.

Thank you for your comment, Hans and welcome to Lemback Blog. SKF is operating worldwide, I think. Btw, I should ask my Indonesian friend to interpret your blog to me. 🙂

Those are a few great pictures of the giant ball!

I would think that artwork would be particularly blinding when the sun is coming up!

Oh, I didn’t think about that. I should ask hubby since he’s in this area more often even in summertime.

You thought of it as a disco call, but I thought it’s as good as a Christmas decor, hanging in a christmas tree, lol!
