Looking back on our travel memories we must say that for ten years we’ve spent almost each year of our life travelling. It was a wonderful decade for us because despite our busy lives we managed to go on trips whenever we wanted. It wasn’t like we travelled around the world though. But visiting other cities close to where we live was such a revealing experience. We have been to some cities more than once while those other cities we have planned on visiting again.
How time flies so fast! I remember our trip to Sicily ended the previous decade and started the new one. We’re usually on a trip to celebrate the New Year somewhere and it’s becoming a tradition for us. I also remember that we’ve been to Barcelona many times and it’s because we loved the city so much and we still do but when we visited the other cities in Spain we fell in love with the whole country. These past three years we were in Spain a lot.
The most memorable road trip we’ve ever done was in 2014 when we drove around Italy reaching places like Florence, Vinci, Verona and Pisa. I thought that would be the longest road trip we could ever do but when we drove to Spain and around the country that was not only the longest but the most tiring as well because it’s farther than Italy.
One of the most inspiring memories we’ve collected though was discovering the allure of smaller cities. The somehow laid-back atmosphere was welcoming and it we felt more relaxed after a long drive. We’ve learned that not only those country landmarks were worth visiting but small or countryside places as well.
The long-haul flight we did though was when we visited my family in the Philippines. It was the first time we travelled via Manila and celebrated the New Year there. We skipped our usual route via Singapore because of the short of time.
Another great time we had was travelling to Rome on my birthday, which I thought it would conclude our travel for the decade. But my husband was extremely enthusiastic to drive to Spain so we ended the decade being in Spain. Anyway, records of travel is in our travel list page. We’re hoping that we can explore more countries in the new decade.
