Which Cruise Suits You?

4 July 2013 By: Marlenecomment

There is a seemingly endless list of cruise holidays to choose from, with a multitude of different cruise operators, vessels, itineraries and onboard facilities on offer. So which one suits you?

For starters, consider how long you want to be away for. Cruising isn’t for everyone, and a week on a boat can be a daunting prospect for those who have never cruised before. If you’re new to cruising and you fancy a short taster, or if you’re just looking for a couple of low-cost days away, a mini cruise could be the ideal solution. As the name suggests, these are short cruise itineraries lasting for anything from one night away up to 5 or 6. Most mini cruises are operated by standard cruise liners like P&O and Thomson, so you can still expect all or most of the usual great facilities and onboard entertainment. On one or two-night mini cruises you’ll typically get to see one destination, such as Bruges or Amsterdam, and on longer itineraries you may get to squeeze in two, three or even four destinations.

Cruise and stay is another style of cruising that’s becoming popular with holidaymakers looking for something a bit different. You can enjoy a week or two’s cruising – or as long as you like – followed up by a stay on land in a hotel. The great thing about cruise and stay is that it’s pretty flexible, and you can choose the combination to work around you. For instance, you could have a fortnight’s cruise around the Caribbean followed up by a three-night stay in New York. Or you can switch the order and have the stay first, and the cruise second.

Whatever takes your fancy, take a look at Cruise Thomas Cook. This is a great way to search for cruise holidays because it lists cruises from all the major tour operators – complete with the latest special offers – in one place. Compare itineraries, onboard facilities and prices, and book online to secure your perfect cruise holiday.
