Walking With Ice-Spikes

10 January 2011 By: Marlene6 Comments

My first day of work for this year started just right with a good feeling of enthusiasm and in the best of moods. Gone were the “oh, no, not again” feeling. The fact that the ground outside is a mixed of snow and ice haven’t restrained me from going up early. I knew it would be ice on the ground after the fall and rise of the temperature these past days so I asked hubby to buy me shoe ice-spikes, which I haven’t any idea what they are, how they look like and how they’re used. I’ve just read about it in the newspaper and how they could hold a good grip on an icy ground and would keep one from gliding or falling off. I thought I needed those kind of things. And just as I expected, the ground looked like this when I went my way to the bus stop.

It was my first time to wear ice-spikes this morning and it wasn’t comfy at all. But my boots had a good grip on ice everytime I stepped on it. Somehow, it gave me a feeling of confidence not to fall off. Slipping and falling incidents made the orthopaedics busy and full at this time of the year, that’s why I was precautious to have ice-spikes.

It’s not comfortable to walk with them on floors, I don’t think it’s allowed so I took them off at work.

Hahaa, I don’t think so…the spikes would be a hindrance to run.
