Too Fast To See!

11 April 2012 By: Marlene2 Comments

I wanted to capture a video of the oranges at the highway but it wasn’t that easy. It was impossible to go down the speed limit on the road where oranges were just a crash-barrier away. It was my first time to see so many orange trees so I was a bit ecstatic. Hubby was the one driving and I was busy with my camera taking pictures and videos while the car was running. Although it was winter the temperature down there was relatively high and warm. The oranges and other citrus fruits seem to like the mild winter weather condition of the city.

Highway oranges-SicilyI took this video when we drove from Catania to Siracusa (Syracuse). Even taking pictures by the highway was not appropriate. I got some with good qualities though, or should I say, good quality of blurredness. Lol!

There must be a reason why they grow oranges along the highway and the only good reason I can think of is to keep the oranges from uninvited pickers. I would be willing to pick one myself if we had found a space on the road to stop the car. But nowhere did we find any place. Because we couldn’t stop the car all I could do was feast my eyes on the trees of oranges and other citrus fruits.

I think the video is quite good! When I see lifestyle or nature shows on TV and they are in a moving car, that is how it looks like too. It is hard to compensate for speed.

It was really hard and I so wanted to get some pics or videos of how big the orange plantations were.
