The Republic of San Marino

6 March 2010 By: Marlene12 Comments

I was thinking of some places to get away this summer and since we haven’t planned to take a long trip across Asia, chances are either we’ll travel within Europe or visit some places here in Sweden that I haven’t been to yet.  Since hubby and me are working full time, travelling is our definite choice for rest and relaxation.  Anyhow, the place that occurred to me and only if I were to decide I would have a second trip to San Marino.  There are places where one visit enough but there are also those which I like to see again and again.  And the Republic of San Marino is one country I want to visit once more.

Honestly, I didn’t know anything about this country until hubby drove me to Italy quite a few years ago.  The plan was not even to drive to San Marino but he was supposed to show me the city of Verona (Italy), where Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet was played.  Unfortunately, the heavy rains caused us to change route though we were almost there.  We reached Rimini, the other city in Italy, late at night.  The next day, we drove to San Marino instead of driving back to Verona.  I learned the moment we were there that it is a country surrounded by Italy. The reason why I want to visit San Marino again is the feeling of being on high land is like I am on top of the world. And on top of it I can see Italy in all directions. Not only that but the country’s structures and architectures reveal its historical foundation.

Oh? Meron palang country na San Marino? *Sabay tingin sa flags of the world na nakasabit sa likod ng pinto* meron nga pala? I wouldn’t have noticed it, had I not read this post. Oh my gulay, where have I been? Natulog sa pansitan hehe.Ewan ko, pero parang now ko lang sya ‘nakilala’. Una kong naiisip sa San Marino ay yung brand ng tuna dito, haha!

Hahaa! Hindi ko nga rin alam dati. Hubby knows about it pero ako, kung di napunta dun ay wala talaga. Ewan ko ba’t di ito napag-usapan sa Geography class ko nung high school.

i have read something about san marino before, it is the 3rd smallest country in europe and did you know that there are about 93 males for every 100 female in the country (parang gusto ko tuloy pumunta dyan) and a person who is from san marino is called “sammarinese”…. 🙂

But i am not sure if “San Marino Corned Beef” originally came from that country… Have you tried their corned beef yet? hehehehehe….

I haven’t read about those things, though I read about the history of Saint Marino. Kahit corned beef, I know nothing about it. Sun Pride corned beef lang natikman ko, hahaa!

I’m beginning to miss Cebu City. We went there last year and we felt the same way you did. We feel we are on top of the world when we went to Tops.

Even in Davao I could feel I’m on top of the world at Jack’s Ridge. Wherever you are standing on top, you can actually relate the feeling.
