Catastrophic. Shameful. Unacceptable. This is how I could describe the Monday that was yesterday. My first day of work and the kick-off day was a conference to commence the schoolyear. And I came late, thanks to the bus that didn’t come on time. I could hear the voice of the speaker who happened to be the boss of all the bosses when I thought of going in the back door. But the stupid door which happened to be near the platform where the speaker stood, was wide open so that the other bosses, including my boss could see me coming. The back doors were unfortunately closed so I had no choice but to walk in as if I was some kind of celebrity who popped in by surprise right in front of more than 120 colleagues that all their eyes were on me. Acch! It was the day I wished it never happened and absolutely not the way I should be remembered. Who? Ah, she, who came in late, lol! Some of them know my name but having 150 or more colleagues is sure way difficult to remember all the names. I don’t even remember half of them. One colleague who’s name is a tongue twister suggested we could call her Daisy instead of Dilruba, Dulrabi or Dalrubi – I don’t know which of these is the right one, lol!
Anyhow, nobody asked why I came late which was surprising. Not even my boss for this matter when we had our talk today. But it’s not something I’m proud of. If only I could shout to the bus driver just to know the reason for his delay but it’s not a scene anyone would act early in the morning. Besides, it’s not normal that buses come late all the time. It just happened that it did yesterday and a Monday of all the days of the week.
Oh dear..what a situation. Maybe if I’m on your part, I’ll melt like an ice under the heat of the sun. 😀 . There are some unavoidable situations that we can’t control and if we don’t know how to tolerate it then, that will only totally wreck our our day. Relax kna ba? Ang wrinkles bantayan hehehe.
Joy, buti na nga lang at karamihan foreigners, mga bosses lang ang swedish. Pero kung swedish lahat ay matutunaw yata ako, hahaa!
Ohhh it happened with me couple of time, i can understand what was going on in your mind at that time.
By the way Dilruba in URDU mean “Sweetheart”.
Dil means Heart
Ruba means precious as pearl.
And sure you know how I felt that day. Oh, now I know what her name means, maybe it will help me remember to say it right, too. She’s from Bangladesh. Thanks.
Awww, that suxs. 🙁 Hope you have a better week ahead of you. *hugs*
Rozella, my Monday really sucks me. But not my Friday cos we will be visiting an island again, hehee.
ohhh so sorry to hear that my dear. Well, on a positive side, now, everyone should know you. hehehehe I know how horrible it must have been for you, but I think it’s OK. That’s fine, things like this happen. Even if you had to drive, your car might break down and you will eventually reach late anyway. and I think her name is Dilruba too:) same reasons as Shanker, it means darling! 🙂
but yeah, imagine my dad’s name- Buruhanudeen. Everywhere I go, people can’t pronounce his name. Even when we went to the US recently, the lady at the ticketing counter had a tough time pronouncing his name. heheheheh he blamed his mother though. LOL
Farah, t’was a shame but I got over it, hehee.
Oh, yes, what a hard-to-say name your dad has. And long, too. I’m having a hard time saying it, hahaa!
Grand Entrance ba? Well, at least you were the star of the day!:) Are you a teacher or administrator by any chance? curious lang…
Yikes, that was an embarrassing grand entrance. Ulirang teacher me, Maricris. I had given up my administrative power when I left Davao. 🙂 I can’t attain the administrator rank here dahil mataas ang requirements nila.
Oh my gosh – it is indeed awkward.I have one of those moments as well and I sure can melt right there and then from embarrassment but hey it can happen to anyone:)
Hi Jade, thanks for following my comment on your blog. Anyway, this is one moment I would never want to happen again, hehee.
don’t even try! It’s a tongue twister. LOL
