Taking Notes With A Camera

14 October 2010 By: Marlene12 Comments

My job requires me to participate in career development trainings and seminars and listen to lectures of competent speakers. Most of the time, I take down notes in my notebook so as not to miss valuable insights. I used to take notes on a piece of paper before but I would lost and completely forget about it. Now I have a special notebook for taking notes and I always have it with me everytime I go to trainings and seminars. It’s seemingly good to have all my notes in one place and read them over and over.

In one of our career development lectures, I got tired of taking notes because it was too much and I couldn’t concentrate on listening to the speaker. So I grabbed my camera ( lucky, I had it with me that day) and started taking pictures of the powerpoint presentation of the speaker. Of course, I deactivated the flash so that it would not distract the audience and most especially the speaker. I zoomed in and tried to get the whole of the presentation itself so that the text would be readable. And I was really pleased to see how clear they were when I uploaded the photos in my computer.

My colleagues who were sitting near me wanted to see the pics and some of them tried to copy what they missed. I took 21 presentation pics from that lecture and it saved me a helluva laborious writing.

Taking the shots of the screen is not only a simple and effective way of recording what you needed, it will soon become the norm. Digital data is becoming the norm, hand writing is being used less and less. Sad but true. Grant

I suppose if you are forced to write them all down you might take a bit more of the information in. But as long as you read the notes before you photograph them and you can always refer back to the photo for accurate facts.
