Fish And Chips In Gothenburg
So this is fish and chips that I sometimes see in some British prime show on TV. I’ve been curious to try this classic meal of the United Kingdom since the first time I saw it on TV. I was thinking it would be interesting to have fish on fries instead of the usual burger and fries. It’s in my thought to try this meal when we visit London someday but it seemed eating fish and chips doesn’t require me to fly to London after all. Hubby took me to an English pub on his birthday ( yeah, his birthday, not mine) and luckily enough, the Bishop’s Arms pub had fish and chips on the menu. Of course! It’s an English pub, why wouldn’t they have fish and chips.

The one I saw on TV was served in a food box so I was surprised to get my fish wrapped in a newspaper cone, though it lookeds so British that way as it’s the traditional manner of serving fish and chips. But it can be served in different ways nowadays.

I can’t say how much I like it though I know it’s just a meal I could eat when I’m not so hungry. I would prefer something different than this when my stomach starts growling. How about fish and rice?
A Fish Called Plaice
While I was on my way home today, I felt a little peckish about something I didn’t know exactly what. I couldn’t figure out anything but the more I think about it, the more I become peckish. I thought of a bread and peanut butter but it wasn’t what my mouth wanted, not even what my stomach was begging for at that moment. So when I arrived home, I put on the laundry in the washing machine and right thereafter, It was clear in my mind what I wanted to eat. Fish for dinner! I couldn’t help but to crave for a fried fish. Then I called hubby if he could buy some fish on his way home. I thought of a Mackerel, but he said it’s not the season for such fish right now. I told him to look for any fish, anyway, as long as it is fish. He almost spoiled my appetite when he said he couldn’t find any, but a big minute steak. Aww! please! No steak this time. I realized he was joking when I saw the plastic bag from the fish stall, then big smile from me….

And this is what he bought for his craving wife. A fish called plaice, a European flatfish! Served with cooked potatoes and rice, this fish was really a dinner for two. And yes, potatoes for him, rice for me. Although sometimes, we both eat potatoes and rice. But as for this fish, rice is more appropriate for me.
