Job Almost Done For Peanuts

Tell me about it!  Do you like to shell peanuts?  I do like to shell boiled peanuts but only to throw them straight into my mouth.  It’s shell and eat, shell and eat way of enjoying peanuts boiled or roasted unshelled.  The peanuts I have now are raw, unshelled but not no longer fresh because I brought them with me from Davao last year.  I thought they were dry and rotten already but I was surprised I could still eat them.  I noticed that the older it gets, the tastier it becomes, lol!  It seemed to taste like a roasted peanut in a sense.

I have something to thank for for the peanuts because it gives me an idea to bake brownies perhaps this weekend to complement my failed chocolate cake.  I firmly believe that the key to success is try and try.  Hahaa!  Back to the peanuts, I started to shell them so they’d be ready in case I would need to roast them before using.  I couldn’t help but to eat some while I was shelling but I tried to resist the temptation or I would end up baking brownies without nuts.  You would have noticed that not all peanuts were shelled yet.  I like to shell peanuts but it’s not a job I would recommend.  Not even as a hobby or past time activity.  It was tiring and tedious and the intention not to eat them was a bore.  The job was almost done but I had to stop cos I got bored and sleepy.  Or is it long way to get done?  Anyhow, I won’t need all these peanuts for a mixture of brownies. I don’t think so…

Obsessed With Peanuts

peanuts for the brainI feel like a mice nibbling a piece of something when I am watching films or TV.  Peanut is actually my favorite snack, if it’s the right term to use it.  I used to hear my grandparents would say “eat peanuts, they’re good for the brain”.  And they would never explain why, I dared not ask anyway.  I’ve never liked chips and the likes just because they’re junks but I know there are many who are feeling peckish for such foods and having good health at the same time.  With peanuts, I can eat it everywhere and anytime I want as long as I am not so hungry.  When I was in college, I would always have a pack in my bag and take one or two to nibble on in the class.  Nobody would notice that I have something in my mouth, ha ha!

Although some of my friends don’t eat much peanut because they’re afraid to get pimples, I am however, not affected by this conclusion.  I haven’t suffered from this kind of skin disorder by eating peanuts, thank God, and the fact that I have oily skin.  The healthful type of fat in peanut has been implicated for skin health.  Others are just sensitive to food oils that they tend to get pimples or acne from peanuts.  To justify my grandparents statement through a little research, peanuts are a good source of niacin, the organic compound that contributes to brain health, brain circulation and blood flow.  With this info, I can now tell my grandparents that they’re right about peanuts.

But do you know that peanuts can be fatal to people who are having severe allergic reactions?  The first time I heard about somebody died of peanut-allergy I thought it was ridiculous, I never heard anyone allergic to it before.  It was when a girl had just eaten some peanuts, happened to kiss his peanut-allergic boyfriend.  The boyfriend died in just a matter of minutes.  From that time on, memos circulated in schools to ban all kinds of nuts in all food preparations.  But me…..I’m enjoying my peanut obsession.
