In The Eye Of The Beholder

So they say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.  Ahemm, and what do you see in the eyes of the beholder when you’ve fallen into his mesmerizing look? Listen to this song and you will probably agree with it. This is one of my favorites and it’s just perfect to sing to a loved one especially this Valentine season.

Looking Through Your Eyes
(LeAnn Rhimes)

Look at the sky, tell me what do you see
Just close your eyes and describe it to me
The heavens are sparkling with starlight tonight
That’s what I see through your eyes

I see the heavens each time that you smile
I hear your heartbeat just go on for miles
And suddenly I know my life is worth while
That’s what I see through your eyes
[Chorus:]
Here in the night I see the sun
Here in the dark our two hearts are one
It’s out of our hands, we can’t stop what we have begun
And love just took me by surprise
Looking through your eyes

I look at myself and instead I see us
Whoever I am now, it feels like enough
And I see a girl who is learning to trust
That’s who I see through your eyes
[Repeat Chorus]

[Refrain]
And there are some things we don’t know
Sometimes a heart just needs to go
And there is so much I’ll remember
Underneath the open sky with you forever
[Repeat Chorus]
Looking through your eyes…

This Song Called Anak

I had a short chit-chat with my Chinese colleague a few days ago during lunch time and the usual talk about our job changed when she told me she heard a Filipino song a long time ago and that the meaning of the song’s title was “child”. She told me that everytime she’d hear it played, she’d had goose bumps because of the lovely melody and the reality of what the song had to convey. I knew at that moment which song she was talking about and I remember I have it in my computer. I promised to give her a copy of the song later. It was just wonderful how she could still remember the song, “Anak” by Freddie Aguilar though it was a long time ago that this song was translated into different languages. Hubby likes most of Freddie’s songs, especially this one. I actually met some other Swedish husbands of my friends and they’re also impressed of Freddie’s music. In fact, I borrowed the cassette tape (with Freddie’s songs) of my friend’s husband a few years ago. Then hubby converted them into wave files that’s why I have Freddie Aguilar’s songs in my hard drive.  I personally love all the songs of Freddie and I used to play some of them in my guitar when I was a teenager.

Anak   by: Freddie Aguilar

No’ng isilang ka sa mundong ito, laking tuwa ng magulang mo.
At ang kamay nila ang iyong ilaw.

At ang nanay at tatay mo, ‘di malaman ang gagawin.
Minamasdan pati pagtulog mo.

‘Di man sila payag, walang magagawa.

Are We Human or Are We D?

Been hearing this song on the radio and once I asked hubby what the singer was singing about, was it “are we human or are dancer?”  Hubby wasn’t listening to the song because he was busy in the kitchen, instead he just told me that I was crazy to ask the question.  I ignored what he said and asked another question: “Are dancers not human?”  Again he told me that I was crazy, lol!  But guess who asked the same question as the one I asked first, hahaa!  A few days ago, the song was played again and maybe this time he heard the song right while he was busy with his usual routine in the kitchen.  ”Is he singing, are we human or are we dancer???”  I told him that I asked the same question before and that he didn’t believe me.  It prompted me to search for the lyrics of the song and the result showed that not only me and hubby were wondering about that special line in the chorus.  He said that if it was “denser” then he would understand.  But it’s not and here’s the explanation:
