In The Eye Of The Beholder

So they say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.  Ahemm, and what do you see in the eyes of the beholder when you’ve fallen into his mesmerizing look? Listen to this song and you will probably agree with it. This is one of my favorites and it’s just perfect to sing to a loved one especially this Valentine season.

Looking Through Your Eyes
(LeAnn Rhimes)

Look at the sky, tell me what do you see
Just close your eyes and describe it to me
The heavens are sparkling with starlight tonight
That’s what I see through your eyes

I see the heavens each time that you smile
I hear your heartbeat just go on for miles
And suddenly I know my life is worth while
That’s what I see through your eyes
[Chorus:]
Here in the night I see the sun
Here in the dark our two hearts are one
It’s out of our hands, we can’t stop what we have begun
And love just took me by surprise
Looking through your eyes

I look at myself and instead I see us
Whoever I am now, it feels like enough
And I see a girl who is learning to trust
That’s who I see through your eyes
[Repeat Chorus]

[Refrain]
And there are some things we don’t know
Sometimes a heart just needs to go
And there is so much I’ll remember
Underneath the open sky with you forever
[Repeat Chorus]
Looking through your eyes…

This Song Called Anak

I had a short chit-chat with my Chinese colleague a few days ago during lunch time and the usual talk about our job changed when she told me she heard a Filipino song a long time ago and that the meaning of the song’s title was “child”. She told me that everytime she’d hear it played, she’d had goose bumps because of the lovely melody and the reality of what the song had to convey. I knew at that moment which song she was talking about and I remember I have it in my computer. I promised to give her a copy of the song later. It was just wonderful how she could still remember the song, “Anak” by Freddie Aguilar though it was a long time ago that this song was translated into different languages. Hubby likes most of Freddie’s songs, especially this one. I actually met some other Swedish husbands of my friends and they’re also impressed of Freddie’s music. In fact, I borrowed the cassette tape (with Freddie’s songs) of my friend’s husband a few years ago. Then hubby converted them into wave files that’s why I have Freddie Aguilar’s songs in my hard drive.  I personally love all the songs of Freddie and I used to play some of them in my guitar when I was a teenager.

Anak   by: Freddie Aguilar

No’ng isilang ka sa mundong ito, laking tuwa ng magulang mo.
At ang kamay nila ang iyong ilaw.

At ang nanay at tatay mo, ‘di malaman ang gagawin.
Minamasdan pati pagtulog mo.

‘Di man sila payag, walang magagawa.

Beginning Today

I was dropping my EC card and noticed that almost all blogs I came across with have this common post – on Barack Obama and the phenomenal Inaugural Ceremonies last night.  It was overwhelming even to read the headlines in the newspaper this morning.  I was swayed to post about it, too.  But yesterday’s ceremony was just an intro to Barack’s life as the new President of USA.  Today is his first official day to put his words into action.  And the world starts counting on him.  I hope he’ll not execute the office of President to the United States faithfully.  Lol! (Seemed the oath-giver was more nervous than Obama himself ).

Anyhow, it was the all’s well that ends well day for everybody.  Beginning today, the man of history faces his challenges onwards.  And I would like to remember this day by a song which title keeps popping in my mind but not the lyrics.

Beginning Today (Performed by: Agot Isidro)

Beginning today I promise you
I give my heart to you
Beginning today I promise to
Never part from you

From now on I will be right by your side
And I swear other things I’ll put aside
Beginning today
Beginning today
(I promise you I give my heart to you)

Beginning today there’s no one else
On my mind
Beginning today there’s nobody else
Right here inside my heart

From now on I will be right by your side
And I swear other things I’ll put aside
From now on there’ll be no one else on my mind
Beginning today (Beginning today)
Beginning today
(I promise you)
Beginning today
(I give my heart to you)

From now on I will be right by your side
And I’d swear other things I’ll put aside
From now on there’ll be no one else on my mind
Beginning today (Beginning today)
Beginning today

And I’d swear other things I’ll put aside
From now on there’ll be no one else on my mind
Beginning today
