Kinect? What Is It?

First I saw two young ladies at the mall doing some aerobic steps but they were so lousy that I laughed and I thought these girls were making a fool out of themselves. Then I saw the TV screen in front of them and I found out that they were mimicking those steps from what they saw on the screen. It looked like an exhibit of something so I looked around their booth and read the big sign: KINECT. Kinect? What is it? I asked myself. I didn’t bother to find answers to my querries and completely ignored it.

But days ago when I was at the other mall, I saw a girl mimicking a bowling game on the TV in front of her. It was both silly and funny cos she was like throwing the ball to hit the pins when she wasn’t actually holding a ball but I saw on the TV that the ball ran towards the pin and – hit! She did it again and again and she looked like she was enjoying it. Then I saw the sign, Kinect again. Really? Watch this and you will see…

If you own an Xbox 360 then you can use it to play Kinect Games. The games list includes sports, fitness, dance, action and more. It says that you are the controller when you play it. Kinect uses a sensor to track your movement. It recognizes you and responds to your moves and even listens to your voice. It sounds like a wholesome idea to do with the whole family or group of friends. What do you think?

How About A Yoga Trainer?

The first snowfall in my place came as a surprise yesterday. Everybody was like in panic and road chaos everywhere created some accidents. Lucky for those who just stayed home and slept the cold away. This is the season when I get sluggish and all I want is sleep, but I’m sure many of us do. It’s not really the snow that makes me drowsy and indolent but the lack of sunlight in the day. When days are getting short, it’s time to think of some activity that boost my energy, at least. I’ve tried belly dancing but it didn’t last long. It became monotonous and boring that even to insert the DVD in my player was a pressure, lol! That’s how lazy I could be these days. In spite of that, I still try to think of an activity I can do in the comfort of my home.

I was searching for an app for my mobile  phone when I found this Yoga Trainer app at Ovi Store. I thought it was interesting cos it’s complete with instructions and images. I have not done Yoga though I remember I did Tai Chi with my classmates back in school but it was a one-time experience. I will know how it differs from Yoga when I try it, maybe. Would I dare these poses shown in the app?

It’s also within reach, just one click on my phone or your phone and I can select the poses I want to perform. I’m not that enthusiastic in any form of exercise or physical fitness activity so Yoga must be quite right for me, knowing that it involves meditating, sitting, maybe humming, too. I’m afraid I might not complete a pose cos I might already be lying on the floor…..sleeping!

Get Slim With Belly Dancing

I was thinking of some form of physical activity to keep me active and stay healthy.  I seem to have gradually lost my energy since my body has been exposed to different weather conditions.  I become idle in the winter and sluggish in the summer.  Now that it’s spring and sometimes the weather is warmer than usual,  I feel drowsy when I get home.  It would only make me more tired when I sleep at around 5pm and wake up at 7pm.  Considering my age now, it will be difficult to choose a type of exercise that’s right for me.  I stay away from strenuous exercise cos I’m afraid my bones would give up, yay!  About a month ago, we had this fitness day at my job where we were obliged to choose an activity that would suit us.  I shunt swimming, tennis and indoor bandy.  Just to imagine doing those made me break my shoulder and ankle.  There was one activity that I thought would be easy for me – calisthenics.  It was indeed easy but the pains in my hips and shoulders the next day were almost unbearable.  That was the end of it.  Never again.

belly dancing dvdWhen I learned that there’s belly dancing as a form of physical fitness,  I tried to look for easy variant of it.  Till I found this belly dancing fitness for beginners.  I tell you this must be the silliest thing I’ve ever done with my body.  I’ve never been engaged into dancing.  Geezz, I couldn’t even get a folk dance step in my head.  And now this belly dancing.  I’m sure I dare not dance in public.  Hubby was surprised when he saw the dvd and he asked me where I’d be performing, lol!  “Hahaa!  Do you really think I could dance in public.  I wouldn’t even let you look at me doing it”.

I’ve been doing this for, let’s say, eight days now but not successively.  It didn’t give me pains, unlike that calisthenics.  It gives me the liberty to do it on my own phase. I’m not doing this everyday though cos it’s not to get slim that I’m after but a physical activity from time to time. I’m not aiming to be a certified bum of this either. What? Me, dance like Shakira? Never in my wildest dreams!
