Merry Christmas 2010!

Christmas is a season for kindling the fire for hospitality in the hall, the genial flame of charity in the heart. ~Washington Irving

Christmas is not a time nor a season, but a state of mind. To cherish peace and goodwill, to be plenteous in mercy, is to have the real spirit of Christmas. ~Calvin Coolidge

The Lemback's and a guest at Christmas Eve

Just a simple Christmas celebration at my mother-in-law’s place. Her friend joined us this time which otherwise only the five of us used to gather at Christmas Eve. Time flies so fast and another Christmas has just passed by…..

Smartbox Is A Smart Gift

“I feel it in my fingers, I feel it in my toes. Christmas is all around us, and so the feeling grows. It’s written on the wind, it’s everywhere we go.” It seems like the past Christmas hasn’t ended yet and now it’s here again. It’s the season for giving and receiving again. Sometimes it’s a surprise gift, sometimes it’s what we wished for. Christmas will never pass without emptying our pockets. For Christians around the world, it’s always a tradition to give something at Christmas. And the happiest are the children who always expect to get a gift from their parents or relatives. But adults deserve to receive gifts, too, though they may be more expensive than children’s gifts. Forget thinking about gifts for your teens, they always tell what they want and get what they want, if they’re lucky.

I saw these boxes at the mall many times and I thought they were music CD’s or something. I was curious so I looked and browsed once to find out what’s inside the CD box. But to my surprise, they weren’t CD’s at all! They were gifts with different themes. Smartbox™, as what they’re called, is like giving away a gift by way of a memorable experience. The categories vary from culinary to entertainment and good for the whole family, couples or your friends. It’s not a physical gift of thing you’re giving but an experience of a lifetime. Smart, eh?

A Smartbox Gift

You may be surprised if you receive a Smartbox™ and perhaps you wouldn’t know what to do. But don’t panic cos it’s like a gift check in a form of a box though it’s more options to choose than the former. Like, if you receive a Table for Two Smartbox, you choose which restaurant from the list you will spend the voucher. The Smartbox comes with a little book where you will find the options list so you don’t need to sweat thinking about where to present the voucher.

I like this idea of giving a Smartbox™. I do like to receive any of it, too (wink). It’s available in most countries in Europe, the USA, Canada and Japan. But it’s expanding fast so it won’t take long and soon you’ll find those smart boxes in your country, too.

Santa’s On His Way

Santa Claus
Santa Claus of Scandinavia

Have you got your presents yet?  I got mine today on our term’s final day. At last! I’ll be off work till the second week of January.  We finished earlier so I had time to look for gifts. I thought I should hurry now so that I could hand them to Santa who must have started to knock on doors already, lol!  It doesn’t matter if he’s too early, you still have to wait for the Christmas Eve before you unwrap your gifts.

I took a picture of this Santa Claus known as Tomte in Swedish which my boss placed on the platform.  It is how the imaginary Santa Claus looks like in Scandinavian Europe since it’s mythical birth to the modern Santa Claus.  It’s believed to be a small, elderly man with a full beard.  Now don’t get scared if you see a small creature on your doorstep cos it’s Santa Claus.
