Red Currant in the Backyard

| 28 August 2012 | 2 Comments

Summer becomes more colourful when berries start showing up in the bushes. And when I see one I can hardly recognize which kind it is. I can tell strawberry and raspberry. But when I saw this red currant berries I had to ask hubby its name.

They’re so tiny I thought they’re lingonberry as they looked similar to me. I haven’t seen fruiting lingonberries but we always have lingonberry jam.

It so happened that our friend’s neighbor has this red currant berry in the backyard. Amused by its small and red appearance I took the chance to photograph it. I even picked some to taste. Redcurrant berry bush bears its fruit from mid to late summer.
