When I learned about Flipboard I was champing at the bit to have it on my phone even though it was impossible. It’s an app for Android and iOS platform and my previous smartphone wasn’t even close to these two mobile operating systems. The idea of flipping, reading and sharing has fascinated me and I thought it would give me something to share on my social networks. I have been trying not to update my status with personal stuff like what I am eating, what I do and where I am (I still do sometimes). What enticed me to have Flipboard was the magazine-like compilation of articles that interest me and the possibility to share an interesting read to my social contacts.
I had it on my list of apps and when I finally got my Samsung Galaxy S3 I discovered I could do more than just reading and sharing. Flipboard is my own magazine! I thought it was a mobile mag already preloaded with articles and all I had to do was choose, read and share. I had no clue about adding my own social networks to fill it. Talk about reading on the surface and not understanding it, lol! Now I know why it’s called “Your Social Magazine”.
Since I’m always on Twitter I filled my Flipboard with my Twitter timeline, interactions and some of my favorite lists. Aside from Flipboard picks and my social networks there are other categories that I’ve added, like Lifestyle, Design and more.
What’s convenient is that I can update my social networks status via Flipboard. I have added my Twitter, Facebook and Instagram accounts as for now. Liking, re-tweeting, replying to mentions, sharing and updating are the things I can do via Flipboard. It’s the first app I open and stare at in my freetime. It’s simply having a digital magazine to read on the go.
