Planning A Brief Getaway

16 February 2011 By: Marlene17 Comments

It’s not quite easy to plan a one-day getaway when it involves everybody’s availability. My friends and I have long been planning to have a short trip across the border but it has always been hampered by unexpected circumstances. Since we couldn’t do it on weekdays, we planned to have it on a Saturday. Not on a Sunday and any other day. Just one day. We did it once a few years ago, a back and forth cruise from Gothenburg harbour to Fredrikshavn (harbour) in Denmark. When we met last month, we decided to do the same in a few months.

Scandic The Reef

Scandic The Reef

It had been a subject for discussion everytime we’d meet but we could never come up with a final destination. One of us suggested this paradise-like hotel close to the Fredrikshavn (harbour) in Denmark. It was known as the Badhotellet (Spa Hotel) before but now it’s called Scandic The Reef after going through a facelift. It reopened in the summer of last year. I took time to browse the hotel online and found exciting informations that would make our getaway worthwhile. It seems as though the hotel has transformed into a Caribbean water world style. It will be an adventure to experience tropical rain, storms, thunder and lightning in the hotel. I can’t describe how it is to be there. It will be a story to tell later. This brief getaway is something we’ve been looking forward to.

Yay, I don’t know yet if we can just get in and pay for the view and bath without booking a room.

It sounds like the hotel is really amazing Marlene. I want to try it this year, if my time permits to. I’m just curious on how expensive it could be? It’ll be worth it for sure!

As of today, the cheapest is from $180 single room. It must be worth the price, I hope.
