What a perfect day to celebrate Waffle Day and besides it fell on a Sunday the weather was comfortably warm. I managed to clean our balcony without wearing a jacket or sweater. You may be wondering what this Waffle Day all about but as the words imply, it’s about eating waffles on this day. Throwing is out of the question. It’s distinct in that it’s only in Sweden, as far as my research is concerned.
I’m getting accustomed to this celebration that I would never let the day pass without having a waffle or two. I can’t eat more than two though. Hubby made the waffles yesterday since he can always make it better than I am. We topped it with vanilla ice cream and strawberry jam. Oh, the jam should be spread on the waffle but I was in hurry and thought it might get cold. Anyway, it was not as sophisticated as the other waffle I had before but I liked it simple.
Waffle Day is celebrated on March 25 and it was said to have something to do with the Annunciation Day when the Virgin Mary knew through Angel Gabriel that she would conceive the child of God. March 25 is nine months before Christmas ( the birth of Christ). Although today, the celebration is not associated with religion anymore. Some say that it’s more like the first day of spring.

Wow, that really is pretty close to the perfect waffle. Now I’m wishing it was time for a snack break even though I just ate an hour ago!
