The Little Mermaid Of Copenhagen

29 November 2009 By: Marlene33 Comments

Just came back from a weekend stay in Copenhagen despite the flu I had but I was grateful it didn’t get worse.  I am feeling much better now, except for a runny nose but I feel that it will be over soon, too.  Denmark is just a neighboring country of Sweden so it’s not really far to drive to its capital city, Copenhagen.  We usually drive through this country when we drive further south like Germany, Austria, etc.  We decided to explore the capital city this time around, though the main purpose would be to celebrate my birthday away from home, ahehee.

The sculpture of The Little Mermaid

The sculpture of The Little Mermaid

Denmark has a mild winter weather so it’s not that cold to take a walk to the park and on the streets.  Just like when we walked to see this world known Little Mermaid based from the fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen, a Danish author and poet.  I was surprised to see people, probably tourists, gathered in front of the sculpture to get their own photograph with the mermaid in the background.  Hubby and I were fascinated too so we waited till we got our chance.  I have not seen hubby’s photographs with the system camera, he’s too tired now to download the photos in the computer.  But I’m quite satisfied with this shot using my Canon G7.  Unfortunately, I am not familiar with the fairy tale of this mermaid so I can’t relate a thing about it.  However, I remember there was a film with the title, The Little Mermaid before.

    Geee…

I hope you will be okay soon. It must be very hard to recover especially when you are in a cold country.

Your journey sounds interesting. We caught real mermaid in Malaysia. Human like form. It was really scary to see one, as it was not as beautiful as we thought.

Really! Really! I never believed mermaids exist for real. But if you found one in your country, then they exist.

Thanks for your concern. I feel better now.

Hubby got a wallpaper of this in the net, too. It looks better especially when the water is blue, right? My image is not that good.

The son of the founder of the world famous Carlsberg breweries, Carl Jacobsen, went to see a ballet adoption of the famous fairytale. He liked it so much, that he ordered a statue of the mermaid from the artist Edvard Eriksen, to be placed at Langeline, close to the Royal Palace.

Haa!

    ” Little mermaid i Davao ”
