Kuggen Building at Lindholmen Science Park

| 25 July 2012 | 9 Comments

I always see this building when my bus passes through Lindholmen on my way to work. It’s a primary area in the Gothenburg region under Lundby district. I didn’t know the name of this building before but when I heard it was called Kuggen it reminded me of a “kugghjul” which means in English “gear or gearwheel”. I’ve stared at this building everytime my bus would pass by here but I couldn’t seem to figure out what the structure was about. Now I know. If you turn your neck sideways then you’ll probably get the real thing of the structure.

Building Kuggen

It looks like a lying gear to me after knowing its name. Apart from the teeth I like its colorful design. I had a closer look on it when we had our closing day lunch at work at a restaurant inside Lindholmen Science Park. It’s more impressive at a close range.

It has recently been marked as Green Building and certified as Environmental Building because of its solar shading feature which moves around the house.

The building has pathways to Chalmers (University) and to the main Lindholmen Science Park building. The place is also located near the water of Älvstranden (river bank). Lovely view and atmosphere all-year-round.
