Halloween Voodoo

1 November 2008 By: Marlene9 Comments

It’s been many years since the last time I had Halloween in Davao.  Not that we had a Halloween party or tricks or treats in the neighborhood, but the the special thing we would always do on this day was and is to visit the graves of the deceased.  Unfortunately, I don’t remember associating All Saints’ Day and All Souls Day when I was in my hometown.  All we’re up to is to prepare foods and spend a night at the cemetery, but of course we don’t need to do this if we have no dead relatives.  I’m sure my family in Davao have already prepared for today’s visit to my father’s grave.

And for me who misses the family gatherings out there, I can only sit with hubby and watch thriller films.  I’ve learnt to associate Halloween with the 1st of November when I heard the knock on the door and a group of children in weird costumes surprised me with “tricks or treats”.  When this day come, I would always say “treats” and hand them a bag of candies. Though I don’t know what tricks they could make but children can be tricky sometimes. Halloween party? Out of the question.

Happy Halloween!

    Farah,
Aww! I don’t think I can handle Halloween Party, hehee! Must be scary.

    Marites,
Happy Halloween to you, too. Pareha ta!

    Joy,
Nakakamiss talaga, di ba. Ibang-iba kasi sa ating kapag ganitong celebration. Ipon-ipon talaga.

    Jessie,
Naku! Namimiss ko palagi kapag ganitong buwan. Imagine 9 years na rin akong absent sa salu-salo, hehee.

    Nick,
Yes, that’s how we love graves, hahaa! Not really freaky cos the cemetery’s jampacked with crowd.

    Amor,
