Get Slim With Belly Dancing

4 May 2009 By: Marlene24 Comments

I was thinking of some form of physical activity to keep me active and stay healthy.  I seem to have gradually lost my energy since my body has been exposed to different weather conditions.  I become idle in the winter and sluggish in the summer.  Now that it’s spring and sometimes the weather is warmer than usual,  I feel drowsy when I get home.  It would only make me more tired when I sleep at around 5pm and wake up at 7pm.  Considering my age now, it will be difficult to choose a type of exercise that’s right for me.  I stay away from strenuous exercise cos I’m afraid my bones would give up, yay!  About a month ago, we had this fitness day at my job where we were obliged to choose an activity that would suit us.  I shunt swimming, tennis and indoor bandy.  Just to imagine doing those made me break my shoulder and ankle.  There was one activity that I thought would be easy for me – calisthenics.  It was indeed easy but the pains in my hips and shoulders the next day were almost unbearable.  That was the end of it.  Never again.

belly dancing dvdWhen I learned that there’s belly dancing as a form of physical fitness,  I tried to look for easy variant of it.  Till I found this belly dancing fitness for beginners.  I tell you this must be the silliest thing I’ve ever done with my body.  I’ve never been engaged into dancing.  Geezz, I couldn’t even get a folk dance step in my head.  And now this belly dancing.  I’m sure I dare not dance in public.  Hubby was surprised when he saw the dvd and he asked me where I’d be performing, lol!  “Hahaa!  Do you really think I could dance in public.  I wouldn’t even let you look at me doing it”.

I’ve been doing this for, let’s say, eight days now but not successively.  It didn’t give me pains, unlike that calisthenics.  It gives me the liberty to do it on my own phase. I’m not doing this everyday though cos it’s not to get slim that I’m after but a physical activity from time to time. I’m not aiming to be a certified bum of this either. What? Me, dance like Shakira? Never in my wildest dreams!

Same here, Jean. Dancing is something I always thought I could, but in reality, my body and feet have their own worlds. 🙂

You made me laugh Len. There’s nothing wrong exposing with what you can do. As for me, I’m into anything. Every Saturday I joined with my boys at Taekwondo.

I’ve visited your site, it seems commercial. It’s informative though.

Ooooo!!! I have always wanted to try it out too. There’s this lady working in my office, she’s been doing it for a while now and she has lost so much of weight! It really does give you more of a figure even if you’re big in size.

Rozella, that’s something to motivate me. I really had no idea what belly dancing could do to our body until I found the DVD. I should do it everyday, hehee!

Amor, bago ko nga lang naman na may exercise effect pala itong belly dancing. Kaya bumili agad ako’ng video para masubukan daw. But like you, tinatamad din ako kahit 30 min. lang yung haba ng workout.
