Fun Run In The Rain

14 May 2013 By: Marlene4 Comments

It’s my first time to join Vår Ruset yesterday at Slottsskogen (park). It’s a yearly race for women here in Sweden and Gothenburg had its turn yesterday. It happens in the month of May when Spring is at its best. All women at work or in different organizations are welcome to join. Unfortunately,  we didn’t get a bit of luck with the weather.

Vår Ruset

Of the 13,000 women who signed up to join this year only 9,000+ showed up and ignored the rain. There are different categories to choose – fun run 5 km fast run, fun run 5 km run, fun run 5 km jog, fun run 5 km jog along or stroll and chip timekeeping 5 or 10 km race.

Vår Ruset

I preferred to laze around and just stroll with my Thai colleague. We’re both first timers in this event and we had fun despite the unstoppable rain. Everybody’s a winner, with a medal and a bag of goodies in the end. Anyway, it’s the winning that counts but the physical activity. It was more fun than tiresome. Now I have body pains to heal.

Thank you for dropping by, Vijesh. Nice to know you’re a teacher, too. A teacher turned blogger is like a trend now 🙂

It was, indeed, Willie. The rain did not stop the 10k+ women from running.
