Closing Day and Socializing at Work

18 June 2012 By: Marlene3 Comments

Schools have been officially closed for summer break since last week but the teachers’ last day of work will not be until tomorrow. What’s with this and that, the teachers can’t just start their break at the same time as the students. We had our closing day at work last Friday while we had our socializing day today. It’s a two-day gathering we usually have before we commence our summer holidays.

The closing (avslutning) day is normally a sort of mingling with colleagues, head masters and administrators. It usually starts with coffee and bun but this time we decided to have coffee and fruits. Some teachers volunteered to bring cookies though. We had our lunch at a restaurant later. And of course, a gathering like this would not be complete without the speech of our head masters.

The “socializing” day is a kind of an outdoor activity where we do orientation or ball games in the park or in the woods. We had our orientation at Hisingsparken ( Hisings Park) today but the weather was a bit gloomy. It started to drizzle but  luckily it didn’t get heavy. It wasn’t a perfect day to be in the park, though it was healthy and fun.

Tomorrow is our last day of work and the most anticipated long break will follow. And I will be recharging my energy the whole summer.

Ah, too bad about the slight rain but it must have been an enjoyable experience socializing with your colleagues. Hope you enjoy the long summer break!
