When it’s intensely cold like now I always think of having a hot chocolate drink. I thought winter this time would be mild and dry but I didn’t count on the coldest month to be always the coldest month, lol! I have known that February is the month when winter is the most cruel here. Snow is fine but when the temperature drops to -11°C like this morning I don’t feel like working at all. My hands really froze after scraping snow off my car. It’s first time for me to be driving the car in winter. Anyhow, I’m home now and guess what I am thinking…

The hot chocolate drink I had at Baia Verde bar in Catania, Sicily

This hot chocolate was so creamy, I could just eat it, not drink. It’s so different from the hot choco drink I usually have in a café here, which is almost the same as what my Tassimo can make. But this thick choco drink is a real energy booster to me. I wonder how to make this – perhaps melt a block of chocolate in a pan and add some milk, or is it just cacao powder mixed in a hot milk. I’ll make an experiment.

There is no such thing as blue snow but why do I make the snow blue in my pictures? In the world of failed photography I think I succeeded in this. I often get blue snow even if it’s clearly white in reality. I’ve read before that it’s not a good picture of a snow at all. When this failure repeats every now and then I decided to search for answers why it is happening. Fortunately, I found ephotozine‘s website that has an article about why snow appears blue.

Speaking of snow, we had our first real winter of the year past Saturday and the happiest were the children enjoying their ride on the sledges. Finally, this season shows what it’s supposed to show. Though I wish it would be over soon.

I left these grapes in a bowl for later indulgence but it seemed I left them for a long time until they looked dry and shriveled. When hubby saw what was in the bowl, he asked me if I was going to make a raisin out of the grapes. I said I had no intention of doing so but I could as well let them become raisins if it’s the way it would be done.

I was looking for a box of raisins at the grocery store today because I thought of making a macaroni salad á la Filipino style. I’m not good at baking or cooking but I’ve learned to improvise. I just hope that the raisins would add flavour to it.

These blue lights in the city remind me of holiday seasons when they’re being lit, normally on the first week of December. Just thinking about it is a stress. Not only the gift-hunting that’s nerve-racking but the pressure of preparing for holiday meals and treat as well. Ugh! And oh, please be nice to my image below. I know it’s badly taken. You know, even taking this picture was a stress, lol!

Are you busy, too, preparing for holidays? I felt the stress when I was at the mall looking for gifts the other day. Then it seemed it was not enough so I had to go and find more gifts again yesterday. I’ve just wished to give a token of friendship to my three colleagues but it seemed as though I was hunting for gifts to ten people. It always takes time to find something valuable but inexpensive.

If I may describe winter as a person, I would say it’s beautiful but cruel because it doesn’t not only bring coldness but darkness, too. Each day is getting shorter and I feel like I’m always on the run to do errands before it’s dark. It seems that I’m not feeling how early or late the time is. I just hurry home when I see that darkness is about to swallow me.

This is how 3:46 p.m. looked today. Imagine leaving home for work while it’s still dark and coming home when it’s already dark. I can’t wait for our school break to begin so I can sleep this darkness away, lol! But until then, I just have to deal with it in a subtle manner, like forcing myself to get up in the morning and lie in bed when I come home from work. Ugh!

I am totally wordless today. I don’t know why. If only you can hear me talk, then you’ll hear nothing but my cough. So I’m letting these pictures tell what I am feeling right now and why I am wordless and speechless. Aren’t the flowers beautiful? I love this summer flower arrangement in the city of Helsingborg (Sweden). They add color to the entire place and they definitely attract the attention of the passersby.

I wish I’m good at naming plants and flowers. But it’s something I can’t think about of doing, perhaps I’m not that interested in botany. It doesn’t run in my blood. Oh, I like how the green plants’ twirling look. At least I have something I’m good at when it comes to flowers – admire them!

And this, too, adds beauty to the port behind. I wonder how it looks now that it’s fall when all plants wither. It must be dull!

Beware! Nothing and no one escapes from the eyes of Skansen Lejonet. This fort is watching the city day and night, witnessing decent or disturbing moves of anyone in the vicinity. If only it can speak and reveal what it has been seeing. But it can’t, for it stands there alone and its reason for being there is no longer as important as in 1694. Now it’s one of the city’s preserved forts. Meet Skansen Lejonet in Goteborg.

Awooo! I didn’t realize at first that the holes of the fort indicate parts of a face. It looks like a head coming out of the house to see outside. Skansen Lejonet used to be a military facility but later became a military museum, then deserted in 1942.

Now it serves as a place for events like parties, weddings, and other celebrations. And how about fixing a Halloween Party at Skansen Lejonet and spook your way to the city.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

It’s always good to have your camera with you everywhere you go. For a professional photographer, this means carrying heavy camera paraphernalia but for amateurs, a light-weight digicam or mobile phone camera is enough to carry around. In my case, I’ve been using my mobile phone’s 12-megapixel camera to shoot whatever I want - anytime, anywhere. Here are some photos I took a week ago when I was just sitting in the car while hubby was driving.

I managed a snapshot of the holed sky while the car was running but it seemed I took it while standing still. Hubby normally drives faster, too, on a motorway, say 110 km/h or more. And is that a rainbow over the hole? That’s the one that prompted me to shot it. It wasn’t actually dark yet at past 3 p.m. but it showed that way since I was facing the daylight. What do you think of this mobile snapshot?

This one’s I took earlier but on the same day, say, half past 1 p.m. in another place. Hubby parked the car for a couple of minutes to mind his phone and I took the chance to grab mine to shoot the blue and white sky. So invigorating to see this color of the sky in a cold, autumn afternoon.
