As Pure As A White Rose

9 September 2010 By: Marlene17 Comments

I seldom see a white rose in the garden or flower shop that’s why when I saw this one among the other flowers by the road I couldn’t help but to recall the last time I saw one. I remember we had a tree-like plant that bore white rose-like flowers when I was young. We called it Rosal but unlike the real rose, it had an aroma I couldn’t explain. It smelled eucalyptus or anything like that when it bloomed. The flowers would normally show up between April and May then I would pick some to put in a vase. And our little house would smell heavenly, hehee! This white rose I took smells nothing though.

White Rose

white rose is rare

It doesn’t matter if it smells nothing like Rosal. Its white color is so pure that an aroma is not needed to attract anybody’s eyes. I don’t know why white roses are rare when I believe they surely blend good with other colors in a bouquet. Maybe you could help me find some reasons for this.

As for my photo, you may notice that the background is sharper than the main object. I failed this time to get the focus on the object that’s why the flower looked a little bit blurred. Tsk, there’s so much to learn about photography.

It is not so out of focus to make it a bad picture. It is actually a great shot with the shadow and the unusual flower.

Aww, thank you! I did not notice the effect of the shadow, maybe because I just looked at the flower.

Yes, a white rose is quite rare and is very dainty and delicate. But a rosal is very aromatic. They exude a certain fragrance that gives us joy. Jasmine is another aromatic flower that exudes its fragrance to a distance. Thanks for the post and the photo. God bless you always.

Thank you too, Mel. Oh, my, I don’t remember anymore how Jasmine looks, not even the fragrance. I should find one when I visit Davao again.

    It is rare rose.
I remember the first time that I have given a rose to a girl. I was toddler back then and I give the fresh pick rose from our garden to my crush.

It seems that white roses are not that popular. Maybe breeding is not easy for this kind of a rose.

I seldom see white roses too, more on the red variation. Speaking of Rosal, it’s been a long time I haven’t seen one. The last time was when we were still in the province, that’s almost 20 years ago, but I still remember its sweet fragrance.

I don’t know why Rosal is vanishing in our place. I haven’t seen this flower anymore. I also like the fragrance of it, the fact that I am sensitive to any scent.

such a lovely flower, nice shot…, white roses symbolizes purity, innocence and secrecy. I only see white roses in flower shops nowadays, its good that you are still seeing roses along the road….

I’ve read that the rarest color of roses are the blue ones, not those that have been dyed by florists but the ones that are genetically engineered by removing the prominent red pigment producing gene. Cool!
