Been hearing this song on the radio and once I asked hubby what the singer was singing about, was it “are we human or are dancer?” Hubby wasn’t listening to the song because he was busy in the kitchen, instead he just told me that I was crazy to ask the question. I ignored what he said and asked another question: “Are dancers not human?” Again he told me that I was crazy, lol! But guess who asked the same question as the one I asked first, hahaa! A few days ago, the song was played again and maybe this time he heard the song right while he was busy with his usual routine in the kitchen. “Is he singing, are we human or are we dancer???” I told him that I asked the same question before and that he didn’t believe me. It prompted me to search for the lyrics of the song and the result showed that not only me and hubby were wondering about that special line in the chorus. He said that if it was “denser” then he would understand. But it’s not and here’s the explanation:

hi Marlene,
I intended to watch the youtube but my internet speed is rather slow especially when everybody in my office has started to switch on their Pcs. Hahaha.
So did you get the answer for are we humans or dancers? Hahaha… wait a minute! your husband was busy in the Kitchen? Is he a good cook? Didn’t you cook? Hahahah …well…i always cook for my family too.

Marlene says
Willie, it’s ok. You can watch it when everybody’s gone home, hehee!
The answer is quite deep to understand but logical in sense. Yay, hubby cooks more than I do and he’s better than me. I cook but it’s not my cup of tea, ngeks! So they say that men are better cook than women. 🙂

The lyrics is well written and the song really deep. It depends on the way the listener wants to look upon the song. It may have different meaning for different people. It is a beautiful song.

That’s one of the explanations. Yes, the message of that particular line is very deep, perhaps the reason why many reacted. I like the melody, too.

There is actually no video, but the song and the explanation running only. Hehee, if we just think it literally then we couldn’t get the true message of the song.

Dito, ewan ko ba bakit pini-play palagi. Parang walang katapusan, hahaa!
Shanker Bakshi says
I did my best to notice
When the call came down the line
Up to the platform of surrender
I was brought but I was kind
And sometimes I get nervous
When I see an open door
Close your eyes, clear your heart
Cut the cord
Are we human or are we dancer?
My sign is vital, my hands are cold
And I’m on my knees looking for the answer
Are we human or are we dancer?
Pay my respects to grace and virtue
Send my condolences to good
Give my regards to soul and romance
They always did the best they could
And so long to devotion
You taught me everything I know
Wave goodbye, wish me well
You’ve gotta let me go
Are we human or are we dancer?
My sign is vital, my hands are cold
And I’m on my knees looking for the answer
Are we human or are we dancer?
Will your system be alright
When you dream of home tonight?
There is no message we’re receiving
Let me know, is your heart still beating?
Are we human or are we dancer?
My sign is vital, my hands are cold
And I’m on my knees looking for the answer
You’ve gotta let me know
Are we human or are we dancer?
My sign is vital, my hands are cold
And I’m on my knees looking for the answer
Are we human or are we dancer?
Are we human or are we dancer?
Are we human or are we dancer?
Marlene says
Yay, now I know how deep the song is. Thanks for the lyrics, Shanker. I’m too lazy to find it.

i was creating a playlist for my mp3 player at this moment from the collection of my mp3 albums that was downloaded a couple of month ago, i just added the folder and set my winamp to shuffle mode when i heard this music, i remembered i think i have heard this music from one of the blogs i read and yes… it was your blog.. i cant seem to understand the lyrics and the meaning is very deep… when i searched in google found out that the lyrics were inspired by a disparaging comment made by Hunter S. Thompson about how America was raising a generation of dancers… weird.. but its cool.. a different sound to my ear… if you are a music lover, you will still appreciate this kind of music…

I was thinking of adding this song to my mp3 files, too. I do like the cool melody. Yes, dancer is used as a metaphor in the song and I begin to understand the message when it was explained in the video I embedded.
