A Perfect Winter Break
I am in the middle of my winter break enjoying sleep in mornings and taking easy with the usual chores. I don’t mind if it would snow the whole week because this break is saving me from going out to freeze. Except yesterday when I had my driving lesson in the city centre and then had to meet a newfound friend afterwards. But the chilly air was surprisingly not at all that bad. My friend invited me to a theatre play but to our dismay it was cancelled because one of the casts have just had delivery and no one informed or called her about it. So we walked through the Avenue instead to find a restaurant where we could have lunch. It was quite a long walk but we didn’t feel the intensity of the cold which was really good. I didn’t even have a bonnet on my head. It made me glad and I thought maybe spring is hurrying its way. Not until I glanced at the headline in a newspaper that another winter storm was coming. Aww, really? Well, let it come this week and I’d be very happy to stay home. Despite the fact that I dislike winter I do love to watch the snow falling on the ground. Every year I’ll have a video of it and the other day when it was snowing I couldn’t help but grab my camera and filmed another snowy day again. This time I caught some children playing with their sledge on a little hill. It gave a nice view from my bedroom windows.
So far I only have uploaded videos of snow on my YouTube channel. It’s what I enjoy doing in winter. Week 7th is always winter break here in my region as what I’ve learned and I call it a perfect winter break when it really is snowing hard while I just watch it through my window.
Living With A Tiger
First, I want to wish the Chinese communities around the world a Happy New Year! It must be hectic to celebrate both New Year and Valentine’s Day in one day. I’m not Chinese (though I’ve always been mistaken as Chinese) but I have a sister who is married to a Filipino-Chinese in Davao and they used to celebrate the Chinese New Year with firecrackers that seemed to be a machine gun fired in the air. This family basically celebrates New Year twice a year, lol! Fortunately, lighting firecrackers has been banned in the city a few years back so I imagined it’s been a quiet Chinese New Year since then.
As you may all know, it’s the year of the tiger in the Chinese zodiac and many want to know what’s in store for the future under this sign. I am not a fan of Chinese zodiac really and to know what year falls under which sign is enough for me. I became a little bit interested in this kind of information when the year I got lucky to land a job here was also in the same zodiac I was born under, the year of the rooster so to speak. But until now it’s rather obscure to me whether one’s luck or success has something to do with his zodiac sign, or the other way around.
Speaking of the Year of the Tiger, I found out a few weeks ago that hubby was born under this sign and he didn’t even know it. Geez, I’ve been living with a tiger all these years! Though it would be a catastrophe if it was Tiger Woods but fortunately and I’m glad it’s just a tiger in the woods I’m living with. And what could a rooster do to fight with the tiger? Not much really, literally. But according to this Chinese Zodiac site, our compatibility is 55 noting a “not balanced relationship”. Don’t know what this means, but in our case, it must be the age that is so much unbalanced, lol!

the eyes of my tiger
I am hoping this year would give hubby some kind of luck as when I had my Chinese zodiac sign five years ago. But a good luck on health is the best that I could wish for him at all times.
Sleepless On Valentine’s?
There could be many reasons why some people would be sleepless on Valentine’s. It could be that an affair has gone astray or a lover’s unfaithfulness has come out in the open. It’s a sickening thought especially if all of these happen in the month of love. I remember lines in a song, “why do people fall in love and end up crying, why do lovers walk away from themselves when their hearts are breaking, why does loving sometimes never stay long”. This might be the case for few people but some are just not in the hype of having a special someone on Valentine’s because Mr. Right or Ms. Right is still on the loose, waiting to be found. Well, whatever excuse one might have to be sleepless on Valentine’s there’s no reason to fret anyway because sooner or later love would just pop right out of the blue. Meanwhile, here’s something for you to do to keep yourself from sobbing and feeling hopeless:
Indulge your appetite in something red like this strawberries. You can buy it frozen or fresh and on Valentine’s day when you have no one to go out with or dine with, you know what you’ll do with the strawberries. Chop! Perhaps a bottle of champagne will bring out the taste even better with some heart shaped-strawberries. Then when you’re done preparing your strawberries, don’t lurk in the corner with it but go watch a romantic film like Sleepless In Seattle or Breakfast At Tiffany’s. Surely, after watching these films you sleep in what you thought a nightmare and wake up the next day feeling good because Valentine’s Day is over, hahaa!
