Back To My Real World

There is a quote in Swedish that goes like this, “Borta bra men hemma bäst”.  If I translate it (word for word) in English, it sounds a bit funny cos it goes like this, “Away good but home best”.  I think it will be better to say it this way, “It’s good to be away but it’s always best to be at home”.  And this is exactly what I’m feeling now after a month-long vacation.  Somehow, being away for a while gives good reasons to be back.  It helps me feel like I’m ready to face the challenges of my real world.  Uhurrmm!

Hubby and I arrived yesterday after a delayed flight from Singapore.  It’s our first time to experience this kind of airport scenario.  It was actually delayed till the next day (which is today) because the KLM aircraft had technical problems that couldn’t be resolved until the necessary material would arrive from Amsterdam.  In this case, it’s better to delay the flight than fly with a defect aircraft.  But for some reasons, we were offered an alternative flight on Singapore Airlines which would leave three hours later than our supposed to be KLM flight.  It’s flying to Zurich,Switzerland and from there, another flight to Gothenburg.  Not bad.  It was also our first time to fly on Singapore Airlines and we liked the experience with the friendly crew, sumptuous meals and spacious seats.

No, they did not. I don’t think the airlines normally pay for delayed flights. Instead, they offer accomodations like hotel and meals. But we’re lucky to have been offered an alternative flight, otherwise we would have stayed a night in a hotel they offered.

Ridi, from Sweden we paid about 8000sek (back and forth). The price varies from season to season and sometimes KLM offers a limited discount on internet bookings.
