32 Days To Spring

This is what I read in the newspaper’s weather prognose page this morning:
The day has been lengthened by 1 hour and 20 minutes in the morning, and 1 hour and 53 minutes in the evening since the winter solstice ( on December 22).
Sunrise 07:37 am
Sunset 17.19 pm

Yipee! My mind screamed silently and I know I had the reason to be glad. No more dark mornings and dark afternoons in a week or so.  Spring will soon take over.

I wasn’t completely awake when I heard my radio set alarmed-clock playing music that my senses couldn’t recognized a piece of the tune.  I tried to be awake even if my eyes were still shy to see the darkness of the room.  It was 5:50am and I was still lying in bed.  The thought about catching the bus at seven reminded me to get up, when I heard the DJ mumbling about the days before springtime ~ 32 days to Spring.  This couldn’t be serious. Thirty-two days is way too long when it’ll be March in 10 days.  The winter will more likely to extend its rage and will continue to blow cold everywhere.  I disliked what I heard from the radio much as I had to rise from the bed.  My unending complaint about the weather is driving me nuts at times.  However hard it was, I got up with the number 32 in my head.  I looked outside and saw the white freezing ground and roofs.  The temperature showed -7C°.  And asked, “would it be like this for 32 more days?”  It’s something left for me to survive through.

Winter dies into the spring, to be born again in the autumn.

Oh yeah, I’ve heard about how bad this year’s winter is in Europe. Thought a lot of people are complaining about it, I am here silently praying to get the same weather down here. LOL You know My, it’s so horribly hot, we can’t even step outside in the day time. It’s like the sun is just above your head and melting your body!

I wonder why many people here are saying that winter here is no longer as terrible as before. It’s much more warmer now than then. For me, it is still terrible and the cold, omg, wish it would end tomorrow.

Pahn, I like spring because it’s neither too hot nor cold. Yes, I’ve noticed the warmer weather in the Philippines than before I left in 1999.

Hobo, doesn’t it snow in some parts of your country? Sure, snow is like a miracle, but the cold is sickening. :-)

You’re not the only one getting nuts over winter. Me too. I’m tired and sickened of the freezing weather here up north–in one of the coldest states in America. I can’t wait for spring although spring is still a little bit cold at most times. I love summer though.

Bingkee, I’m glad I’m not living in the northern part of this country, cos there is worst, hehee! Yours is much more colder part of US. Winter must be a plague.
