Let It Be White

If I remember right I didn’t have a white Christmas for the past three years and winter had been so dry and boring.  Snow would only fall between February and March.  This is why last night when I went to the kitchen to drink water before going to bed, I saw the roof of the laundry house being white.  I looked through the window and I was surprised to see that it was white all over.  It was past 1:00 am but the place loomed in darkness while the snow continued to fall and coated the place in white.  So beautiful, I didn’t want to go to bed but just watched the snow falling.

But when I woke up the ground was ploughed.  Ugh!  Hey, I’m dreaming of a white Christmas here so let the snow stay on Christmas Day, please….

Economic Plunge And Fusilli

Who is not affected of this year’s global economic plunge?  I am wondering if the richest man on earth is not having a problem about saving a penny for a lifetime.  Somehow I feel a sigh of relief that Y2009 is about to end and see what’s in store for us in the coming year in terms of economy.  Yet, despite of the crisis we can’t just let go of holidays without spending.  How much and how little we spend doesn’t matter for as long as we are happy and the people we celebrate the holidays with are happy too.

Finally, we had our last day of work this morning.  I could understand that because of this economic plunge, we had to celebrate it in our home office building which we don’t normally do.  We used to commence and conclude our work at Ullevi arena and restaurants.  But this time it’s different.  I must have felt a sense of pampering everytime we gather and enjoy delectable coffee time and lunch.  Somehow, I missed that today.  Instead, we had fusilli salad, sliced ham and bread.  Huhuu!  Where is the real Christmas dinner table and smorgasbord (smörgåsbord)?

But of course this is better than nothing.  It’s just not my kind of meals for lunch especially that I don’t like pasta much.  I can eat it when I am starving, maybe.  Though I managed to eat a little portion today and that was all.  See how this economic has affected my job.  I wonder what’s next if it never ends; decrease in salary or no salary increase.  I think I’d prefer the latter.

Something Is Rotten

A strange but familiar smell stuck in my nose when I opened the fridge.  It seemed to be some left-over I forgot for quite some time.  I checked everything in the fridge but I couldn’t figure out where this yucky smell came from.  I almost couldn’t stand opening my fridge because of it.  I do have plenty of left-overs sometimes but it never happened to the extent of anything got rotten and smelled like a dead mice has been buried inside the ref.  What a terrible smell!  I looked in the pantry to see if there was something there that caused the smell.  Nothing.  I let it passed and I thought I should clean the fridge on a weekend instead.

Hubby loves to eat bread and cheese while watching TV.  His midnight snacks will be bread and cheese, too.  I don’t know what’s with all the cheese he eats but I don’t find any of them to be appealing or appetizing.  Sometimes the cheese looks very old because of the moulds.  Oh, yes, he eats moulds on cheese, haha!  So when we sat watching a film, he was as usual having his cheese and bread.  Surprisingly, the same smell I sniffed in the fridge was now in the living room.  Whoahh!  It’s the kind of cheese he bought that time.  He’s had different kinds of cheese but this one really could ruin a cosy evening of films like Sleepless in Seatle or Breakfast at Tiffany’s.  Huhh!

Now I can say we’re even because he doesn’t like the smell of durian which I like a lot, and I don’t like the smell of this cheese.  So we’re even, hahaa!  The thing is that when I’m in Davao and I want to eat durian, he can go somewhere and leave me alone just so he can avoid the smell.  But here when he eats his smelly cheese, I can’t go anywhere to avoid the smell.  I wouldn’t stay in the terrace especially now that’s cold, brrr!  I’m stuck on his smelly French tradition cheese.  Yucky!
