Back To Work And Row The Boat
This is it! It’s back to work since Monday but I’m not yet completely into it. Although it’s an easy start with career enhancement trainings and coffee breaks, my mind still couldn’t let go of summer holidays and sitting pretty-days. It takes time to get engaged to the job again after a long break. It has been a dilemma to me. The worst part when school starts again is the mind-boggling schedule making. But it’s part of the job I can’t get away with. I know it doesn’t last long, after a week or so, everything will run smooth like no summer break had taken place. But the pressure of starting over again is quite a stress.
Anyhow, the kickoff week ended with a teachers’ trip to Sparreviken summer camp site. Darn, the bosses planned an outdoor activity for us without foreseeing the weather, lol! In one event, we had to row the boat in the rain just to find what we were looking for. Fortunately, four people in my group dared to take the challenge though none of them (or us) could row a boat. A paperboat maybe.

Row the boat in that direction!
And what we were looking for?

We found them!
Have a wonderful weekend everyone!
Ten Years Ago…
I missed the date when I was supposed to celebrate my 10th anniversary (if I may call it that way) of my arrival here. But August is not over yet and must be the reason why I suddenly thought about how many years I’ve been living in this country so different from where I came from. And Ack! I was amazed to learn that I have been living here for ten years. That’s right, it was August 7, 1999 when the plane I boarded on landed at the airport called Landvetter and the day I realized I was thousands of miles away from my family. Ten years have passed by, unnoticed yet documented in my mind. The first year was kind of struggle when I studied to learn Swedish the first time. I felt like a preschooler who’s starting to learn the alphabet. But it was worth the struggle. The language is like a key to get into the society and I learnt to live with that.
Times are a changing (so goes the line of a song) and now is different from what I experienced ten years ago. Every year thereafter was a treasured memory concealing the first. But the first encounter is always the sweetest to recall, no matter how and what it was. The pictures below were my first blah, blah ten years ago.

my first snow encounter

my first classmate - swedish learners

my first Swedish teacher

my first Swedish class encounter

my first elephant encounter
The last one was actually my first visit to a Swedish zoo. I have never seen an elephant in Davao so that was my first real view of the mammal, lol!. I can’t recall seeing one in Manila Zoo either. Anyhow, life is full of astounding and surprising encounter but the first could not be put to oblivion, just like all I had ten years ago.
My WP Theme By Amor
I am overwhelmed and proud to have this new theme on my blog, especially that it’s created for me by my long-time online friend, Amor. Perhaps we share the same hobby-net surfing, which drew us to find each other’s site. That was before we started to get engaged in blogging. Four or five years ago, I discovered her site on a community site I can’t remember anymore. I was impressed about her design and signed her guestbook the first time I visited her website. Since then we started to visit each other’s site though the only contact we could do was through our guestbook.
Our entry to blogging has given way to a more engaging contact. She’s even the first person in the blogsphere who tagged me way before I knew what it was all about. You see, friendship is just a net away for us. Now, before I get dramatic and plunge you into tears while reading this post, let me instead tell you about this theme. It has been her desire to create a Wordpress Theme for public download. Although she created her theme on her blog a long time ago, it’s only now that she created one for others, well, for me to start of. I’ve told her I’d love to use her theme someday. And here it is! Soon she will be publishing themes for public download, perhaps on her new site which she calls her wordpress theme playground.
I did not do much of this theme, unlike my previous themes, because she already placed all what I had on my sidebars including the adsense. This theme spoon-fed me which gave me less work and all. And I couldn’t thank enough Amor for doing this to me. Paano ba kita mapapasalamatan? Hahaaa! Kanta nga yun, ano.

The proposed theme which she changed to the color I wanted.
