The Points Of Votiv Church

I recently found out from my stock of images that I’ve taken pictures of different churches while on travel and even just going around town. My passion for architectural designs probably encouraged me to shoot whatever that’s standing tall and high, only to realize later that those are churches and not a skyscraper tower.

And so I’ve come up with an idea of posting images of churches on Sundays tagged as Church Sunday. Coming up in the series is the Votiv Church in Austria. As far as I can remember, I took this pic when hubby and I were driving through some cities in Europe seven years ago. We didn’t own a digital camera at that time. But clicking here and there was only my concern everytime I got hold of my ancient 35mm camera. Yet, I wish I could have done it better.

Today Is The Day

I have a feeling that I was born on a Friday, and so it was when I queried about an online calendar that traces back which day of the week fell a certain date.  Friday was the day when my parents named me Marlene for some reasons, or it was by chance when they thought that the names of their children should start with letter M.  My mother said my name should have to be Mylene as what they said to the hospital where I was born, but was surprised to see Marlene on the birth certificate.  Since the two names rhyme anyway, she didn’t bother to change but used Mylene as my nickname.  It’s quite confusing cos my elder sister’s name is Marilyn but it actually worked well when we were in school, though some would spell my name as Marlyn.  Think about having Marlene Dietrich and Marilyn Monroe in the family, eh?  Hahaa!

birthday cake

I may not have cakes and ice cream to share with you but I have some awards I received from the two valuable blogger-friends that I would like to share instead and perhaps pass on you.  Thanks to Amor and Rozella for these wonderful awards.  You are one of those people who inspire me to blog through all these years.

As my colleagues and I used to joke around on birthdays in a strange English, “you are all invited to eat my house, including my family.” :-)

Those Days Being Offline

Does anyone checking the attendance of bloggers around? I sure should have a couple of days absences recorded. My workload is stressing me out now that the term is almost at it’s end. Aside from this, the varying weather temperature is also making me tired from the time I wake up in the morning till I come home from work. Double brrr! It’ll be Christmas holidays in three weeks but I feel like I can’t wait that long. Still dark when I go out for work and already dark coming home from work, lol! Seems like a mountain of coal surrounds me when I’m walking in the streets.

But if I consider which of the two makes me tired, it’s apparently not the workload but the weather. I constantly complain about the weather that’s getting me cold to the bones. I’ve never complained about how warm it is in Davao before but now that I’m living in a cold country and everytime we get there, I complain about it, too. Where exactly should I put myself now, hahaa!

Back to this awful weather, I heard from the radio a couple of days ago that there are many people suffering from winter anxiety or depression.  It’s the so called Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), probably caused by a lack of sunlight.  When I checked myself if I qualified to be called a SAD individual, here’s the result when I pondered each symptom of it:

Feel sad, grumpy, moody or anxious
Of the five words, moody describes best about how I react to being dark and cold.

Lose interest in your usual activities
Yes, I do. Sometimes I can set aside blogging and other things just to muse with something that makes me warm, like laze on the couch and watch films.

Eat more and crave carbohydrate, such as bread and pasta
Now this is hardly imaginable. I eat like a bird during cold and dark days, lol!

Gain weight
Absolutely not happening to me, haha! Any tips on how to gain weight, I’d love to try it!

Sleep more and feel drowsy during the daytime
In my case, I sleep less and feel drowsy the whole day. I told you I’m a night person.

I’m not getting close to having winter depression, although I feel the need to be cautious about the possibility of becoming one.  Think about it, Marlene!
