Freaky Keyboard Problems
Just minutes ago, I was terrified by my computer’s behavior when I tried to write my post for today. I stared at the monitor in shock, trying to figure out what could have gone wrong. This should not be my post actually, but since halloween is coming in three days so I might as well share with you this freaky problem that my computer bumped into.
Firstly, I got panicked when I couldn’t access my computer yesterday, thought it caught some virus or what. But good heavens, hubby said that only the power supply unit was not working anymore. Another good thing was that the computer store would close at 7pm so he could buy a new one. You know, when something like this happens with my computer, I feel like I’m losing my mind, I want it fixed right away. The fact that we have three PC’s and two laptops doesn’t make me calm when my favorite PC get cracked. Ahuh, I married a computer geek, but he’s no expert actually, ssshh…lol!
Anyhow, the changed in PSU had somehow caused my keyboard not to function properly. I noticed it the moment I used after hubby fixed it. Some letters or numbers didn’t show up when I hit them. I thought it was only temporary but it’s even worse today. I have this Logitech cordless mouse and keyboard and when I checked the panel set point, everything seemed configured, no problem at all. So when hubby came, he then checked what it was. But he couldn’t figure out anything so I continued to check over and over the panel without finding any hint of solutions. Hubby went to the other computer and later he came to me and said he also had a problem with that computer when he tried to strike letters and numbers. We were both confused.
I was not in the best of moods when I logged in to my WordPress dashboard to continue with my post, while hubby went again to the other computer. While I was staring at the title of my post and thought if it was good enough, something spooky came out just at the beginning of the title. I could see that my title was moving to the right and the words, “sudden keystrokes appear” pushed my title further right. Believe me, I didn’t type those words, I didn’t strike anything in my keyboard. I began to suspect it must be some kind of a virus. Ahh! I screamed and called hubby and he rushed to me. I pointed those words and I said they just came in like magic in the screen. But when hubby read the words, he said he typed those in the other computer. Now, what he just said really made me laugh! And we both laughed. That was the first time I encountered such thing in my computer. What he strikes for words in his computer also shows in my computer. Sounds spooky but funny in sense if you who is typing what. Then he figured out that both our cordless keyboards were in the same frequency. I found out later that the keyboard security in the panel should be activated so that the other computer could not detect my computer’s keystrokes, and vice-versa. Whoo! This wireless thing…
What Time Is It? 10 or 22?
I told you I don’t miss to shift my clock to winter time an hour back. And it was good to get out with a light from the sun in the morning. Oh, yes, it wasn’t dark anymore and it will be like this, at least, until the middle of November. My watch, my mobile’s time stamp and the radio clock were all set to winter time except my alarm clock. I waited until last night to set it, lazy me! I have a digital alarm clock similar to that of the image with the exclusion of the projector effect. I don’t think I can sleep at all when I see those large numbers at the ceiling, lol! I usually set the alarm to radio coz I can’t stand the beeping sound to wake me up.
Anyhow, I set my alarm clock to winter time just before I went to bed. I synchronized it with the radio-controlled clock in the living room so to make sure it would get the accurate time. The wall clock showed 10:20 something. But my alarm clock has the 24-hour system or the so called military time. Meaning I should have set the time to 22:20 something. But I happened to set it wrong. Fortunately, I was awakened by the strong wind which I could hear from the trap window. I glanced at the clock to see what time it was and I was surprised it showed 15:40 something. What the….? Geezz! I could have missed my seminar this morning.
Speaking of this 24-hour-clock, I remember the first time I was learning Swedish when our teacher did a kind of dictation for us to write the sentence correctly. I made a mistake when I wrote, “She went to the dentist at 3:00 in the afternoon.” That mistake helped me to understand that even if they’re using the 24h-clock, they still say the time the normal way, hahaa. Now the time is 22:00, time to watch Prison Break.
Sleeping An Hour Longer
This is what’s best with winter time, when the clock is set an hour back and sleep an hour longer. It is usually done at 3:00am on the last Sunday of October, setting the hour back to 2:00am. This means I have to set the time right in my alarm clock now or it will beep an hour earlier. I should have a radio-controlled alarm clock in the bedroom, too. I have it in the living room and in the kitchen so I’m sure the time will be set right automatically when I wake up tomorrow. I’ve had dark mornings since the past few weeks and this is what I don’t like when winter comes. It’s like going out like a vampire in the night. And setting the time one hour back doesn’t give any help when the days become shorter and nights longer. Any one can miss this hour pattern even if it’s normally done year after year. Coming an hour earlier for work is not bad compared to otherwise later. For me, who is not accustomed to this will have the tendency to miss than to those who are born with it. Actually, how could I miss it when I always wait for this time shift every year so I can sleep an hour longer while it’s still dark outside. :-)
So, if you may excuse me, I have to go and set my alarm clock an hour back now.
